What is Embroidery?

Embroidery is a general term for various decorative patterns that are stitched on fabrics. Embroidery is divided into two types: silk embroidery and feather embroidery. It is to use a needle to puncture the thread or other fibers and yarns on the embroidery with a certain pattern and color, and to form a decorative fabric. It is an art of adding people's design and production to any existing fabric with needles and threads. Embroidery is one of the traditional Chinese handicrafts, with at least two or three thousand years of history in China. Chinese embroidery mainly includes four categories: Su embroidery, Xiang embroidery, Shu embroidery and Guangdong embroidery. China's hand-embroidered craftsmanship has been around for more than 2,000 years. In the Tang and Song Dynasties, the needles are fine and the color is rich. The embroidery was used for painting , calligraphy, and accessories. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the embroidered palace was very large, and the folk embroidery was further developed. Su embroidery, Yue embroidery, Qian embroidery, Xiang embroidery and Qian embroidery appeared successively, they were known as the “five famous embroidery”. In addition, there are also Gu embroidery, Jing embroidery, Qian embroidery, Lu embroidery, Qian embroidery, Qian embroidery, Han embroidery, Ma embroidery Miao embroidery and so on. Each one has its own style, and it has been passed down to the present.
